OFHC Urges Heart Patients to Stay Protected with 5 Key Vaccines

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has issued new guidance that every patient with cardiovascular disease should hear: vaccines are an essential part of heart health.

The five recommended vaccines for adults with heart disease are:

  • Flu vaccine (annually)
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • COVID-19 vaccine (2025–26 season)
  • RSV vaccine (once for adults 75+, or 50–74 with heart disease)
  • Shingles vaccine (2 doses at 50+)

Why? Because infections like flu, RSV, or shingles can trigger serious complications for people with heart disease, including heart attack, stroke, hospitalization, or even death.

At Orleans Family Health Clinic, our integrated care team — physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists — is here to ensure your vaccines are up to date as part of your personalized heart care plan.
